The Lower Hudson Valley Social Forum scheduled for March 27th and 28th, 2009, at the White Plains High School is a response to the various pressing issues that we are all facing. Our purpose is to broaden the "single issue" focus of groups that the non-profit industry has created along with a climate of competition for resources, and build a broad movement locally that is clear in opposing all forms of oppression and exploitation. We will highlight voices that are marginalized and made invisible by the corporate media.

the in-your-face trio out of Chicago mix strong political statements with their dynamic flow and character. Rebel Diaz travels throughout the world performing and organizing, using Hip Hop as a tool for education and social change

Walkabout Clearwater Chorus:

Founded by Pete Seeger in 1984, the Walkabout Clearwater Sloop Club, Inc. is an independent, not-for-profit outreach organization dedicated to promoting environmental awareness and social action through song, education, and other activities.
 

Evan Greer:

Evan is a touring radical songwriter, organizer, and popular educator. In addition to playing upbeat and political acoustic music, he’s recently started facilitating a series of interactive workshops - Connecting the Dots: Social & Environmental Justice Workshops. He offers these workshops at high schools, conferences, colleges, and youth centers.

Freida Jacques:

Freida Jacques whose native name is Whatwehni:neh is a member of the Onondaga Nation. She currently works for the Onondaga Nation School as a Home/School Liaison. She is a bridge between the Haudenosaunee Culture and the many educational institutions in central New York. She has been a leader in her community for over 30 years. Freida is passionate about sharing those teachings in her culture that can help all people. She has 3 published essays on the use and discipline of the Good Mind.
 

Monica Walker:

Is a CORE trainer with The People's Institute for Survival and Beyond.
Today, at age 49, after teaching community-building classes at Guilford College, she now serves as the first chief diversity officer for Guilford County Schools.
 

Dada
Maheshvarananda:

Born in the US, Dada is an activist, writer, and monk. For 29 years he has taught meditation and yoga and supervised social service projects, in Southeast Asia, South America and Europe. His recent book, "After Capitalism: Prout's Vision for a New World", has been published in six languages. He has given hundreds of seminars and workshops around the world about social issues and spiritual values. In October 2006 he opened the Prout Research Institute of Venezuela, which he directs. It is the passion of his life!
